A Plan of Eating

Today was my 4th week in OA (I didn't make it to a meeting last week though).  I am ready to create a Plan of Eating...not a diet plan, but an actual Plan for eating and regulating my compulsion to overeat.

The Foods, Ingredients, and Behaviors that trigger my compulsion to overeat:

Behaviors:
Eating Alone
Eating in my car
Drive-thru Fast Food
Eating food from others' plates
Eating on the couch
Avoiding people, exercise, responsibilities
Cooking excessive quantities
Dining at restaurants: multiple courses
Single item meals (ie: just spaghetti, no salad or veggie with)

Foods:
Chips/Salty Snacks
Bread Basket
Baked Goods
Fried Foods
Sugar drinks
Extreme Salty causes Sweet, Extreme Sweet causes Salty

  1. How have you been doing? I just went to my first meeting this morning and I've been looking for examples of blogs of people doing the same thing. :)

  2. To be honest I really need to give it more effort. Just like every previous attempt, I am eager and willing at the start, then I get lazy and waiver from my efforts. Going to meetings is a step in the right direction, I've picked a sponsor but have not made a strong effort to be in daily contact with her. It isn't an instant cure, it takes a lot of self reflection. I've found that it is a lot of mental and spiritual work to get to the root of the problem, food is just a side effect. I am not abstinent yet (abstinence is keeping yourself from overeating or eating foods that trigger overeating). But I am definitely more aware, and more conscious of my actions. The best part of OA is knowing there are others struggling with the same disease.
